Melbourne is progressively moving to a new ticketing system called myki. This means at the moment there are two options for purchasing a ticket to ride on Melbourne's public transport network.

How to use myki

Melbourne's new ticket system myki is a reusable smart card that can store either a myki pass (travel days) or myki money (dollar value) and these are used to pay for your journey.

Travelling conditions

Small animals are permitted on-board if they are in a suitable container.

Folding bikes may be carried free of charge.

Surfboards are not permitted.
